The British Library, London, UK
October 13, 2009 5:28 pm places to visit
I recently visited the British Library in London as I was early for a train and it is very close to Euston or Kings Cross.
The British Library is the national library of the UK and one of the most famous in the world. There are always temporary exhibitions on offer as well as tours. Ask at the Information Desk on the ground floor for details.
The British Library is spread over six levels and includes the Sir John Riblat Gallery, home to some of the library’s greatest treasures, including the Magna Carta, illuminated manuscripts, the Gutenberg Bible, maps and sacred texts. The Centre for Conservation has a small permanent display and while I was there T S Eliot’s original manuscripts were on display on the ground floor.
