This reversible tea cosy is really easy to make and you can use an old sweater or scarf to make it.
Children should be supervised by adults, if they want to make this project.
How to make a reversible tea cosy, step-by-step
You will need:
- white paper
- tape measure
- pink fleece, or discarded pink sweater
- blue fleece, or discarded blue sweater
- felt pieces in various colours
- embroidery thread in various colours
- sewing machine
Step 1: draw a template
Draw a template for your tea cosy around your teapot onto white paper, adding 5cm (2 inches) on all sides.
Step 2: cut out your material
Cut two semi-circles in pink, two in blue and two pieces of wadding.
Step 3: decorate the outer layer
Before sewing the pieces together, decorate one of the semi-circles using felt scraps, embroidery thread and buttons.
A reversible tea cosy
Pin three pieces together: the pink on the bottom, wadding in-between and decorated layer on top and sew along the bottom with a sewing machine. Repeat with the other three pieces. Sew the two sides together and decorate around the edge with blanket stitch.
