6:31 pm craft techniques

This is a really easy metal embossing technique, all you need is a stamp, ink, metal foil and an embossing tool. It can be used to decorate boxes, for metal quilting, scrapbooking, the list is endless.

Where can I buy metal foil and embossing tools?

Dick Blick Art Materials sell a vast range of art materials. It is an art supplies company that is based in the US.

If you order over a certain amount, shipping can be free within the US, conditions apply. Orders placed from outside the US will have a different shipping charge and may be subject to import duties. (Click on the shipping information link at the bottom of the page on Dick Blick Art Materials for details.)

If you are based in the UK, Hobbycraft is a good place to buy very similar art and craft materials.

Art Metal Foil Sheets are great for metal embossing and are available in a variety of colours. These 5″ × 5″ sheets of solid Aluminum, Copper, and Brass are also great for punching, rubbing, and decorating. 38 gauge Decorator Copper is Aluminum with Copper coating on one side. They are the perfect size for use with 4″ × 4″ Metal Smith Molds.

I used a stylus embossing tool with the metal foil. They come in various sizes, for fine detailed work and to cover larger areas.
