Crafting Creativity, Colin Salter

Marks out of ten: 7/10

Crafting creativity, by Colin Salter, is a book of “52 brilliant ideas for awakening the artistic genius within”.

Each chapter of the book is, according to its introduction, “designed to provide you with an inspirational idea that you can read quickly and put into practice straight away”. Each idea is segmented into four features: here’s an idea for you, try another idea, defining idea, and how did it go?

The idea of the book is to kick-start the reader’s creative juices. It is aimed at those who are interested in arts and crafts, but have either stopped being creative and want to revive their inner artist, or need ideas to get started. It’s a great book to dip in and out of and you only need to try one or two ideas, if they don’t all take your fancy. My favourite was idea 21 “Works like a charm”. The idea is to make a talisman that “will bring you comfort and strength every time you hold it.”

Crafting creativity: 52 brilliant ideas for awakening the artistic genius within (52 brilliant ideas series), Colin Salter, is available from Amazon.
